61: 20 Ways to Boost Your Confidence
Today’s episode is from a video that I recorded for my Teen Catalyst group on Facebook about how to become more confident in any situation.
Here are 20 crazy things to try to boost your confidence. (Plus five bonus confidence boosters!)
- Get naked
- In the privacy of your own home, please!
- This can help you to become more confident in your own skin
- Do something crazy that is out of character for you
- Pick something that is totally out of your league
- Learn something new
- Pick something that you don’t feel super confident in, and dive in
- Take a stand-up comedy class
- If you can learn to laugh at yourself and make others laugh too, it can really boost your confidence
- Get in shape without joining a traditional gym
- Go running, learn martial arts, or take a dancing class
- These are great ways to help yourself to get in shape without doing something traditional
- Subtly flirt with others
- Flirting can be fun (and scary), so don’t be afraid to strut your stuff sometimes
- Join a good charitable cause
- When you help other people, you feel good that you contributed to someone else’s betterment
- Join the selfie crusade
- Take good selfies; take bad selfies; take crazy selfies, and share them!
- Go somewhere where nobody will recognize you and cut loose
- Be bold, laugh out loud, sing, dance!
- Sing karaoke
- They say singing releases the feel-good endorphins
- Teach a class
- It doesn’t matter what it is, just try teaching something to somebody
- You learn better when you teach; first, you observe, then you participate, then you teach, and that is when the learning really sinks in and sticks
- Host a roast
- Select a few candidates, say some nice things about them, and then roast them with embarrassing stories and jokes
- Make sure you have permission from the people you’re going to roast before you roast them
- Find a mentor
- Pick someone who inspires you to do more and to be better in life
- Throw a pity party
- But don’t let it last for more than a couple of minutes
- Host or attend a meet-and-greet event in your area
- This can be super scary (especially for introverts), but just go and do it!
- Document (on social media) your progress of becoming a more confident person
- The feedback that people will give you will be encouraging; people love to help other people
- Dump the drama and the toxicity
- Stop creating or feeding into drama and remove those toxic people from your life
- Expect the best and believe that it will happen
- Don’t think about “what if’s”, but focus on what you’ll gain with the positive outcome
- Be defiant
- Sometimes you need to break the rules
- But don’t be disrespectful in doing it,
- don’t break laws, and
- don’t hurt people
- Own your flaws
- Being self-aware reduces how other people’s thoughts affect you
- Celebrate your successes
- We often only see our failures, but we need to celebrate our success too
- Dress like the person you want to be
- If you want to wear bright lipstick, wear bright lipstick!
- Be bold, be confident
- Mirror the actions of other confident people
- Acknowledge and understand that failures happen
- Failure is an acceptable part of learning
- If you’re not failing, you’re not trying
- Stop being nice
- Set firm boundaries and stick to them!
- Don’t worry about upsetting other people all the time
- Take a personality test
- This can help you to understand yourself better, and how to relate better with other people
